Since 2005, our development efforts as part of the "Together We Reach" campaign have been significant and have helped us with our transition into the Pac-12. In many ways in 2010 we needed to set our goals higher in order to meet the challenges of competing successfully in the Pac-12. Therefore in 2010 after being invited to "The Conference of Champions" we launched "Invest in Excellence", the Campaign for Utah Athletics. This was co-chaired by former student athletes Spence Eccles and Eric Weddle.
Some of the highlights of our campaign, are the most visible accomplishments which are the new facilities. The McCarthey Family Track and Field, the Softball Stadium, the Spence and Cleone Eccles Football Center and the Jon and Karen Huntsman Basketball Center are national caliber facilities that put us in the top of the Pac-12. These facilities represent an investment of over $64 million by our contributors and the Athletics Department. This was possible due to any ifts from supporters with the lead gifts coming from the McCarthey, Dumke, Eccles and Huntsman families.
Another highlight of the campaign has been the support from our former student athletes. Over the past 4 years, we have lead the nation in contribution from our professional athletes. Our investment in our former student athletes has encouraged them to give back to others who desire the same opportunity.
We have many challenges ahead and we continue to strive for excellence because "The best is yet to come."
