Huntsman Cancer Institute: Cancer Hospital Expansion

The Huntsman Cancer Hospital was originally built as a 50-bed inpatient and outpatient facility. This expansion increased the inpatient area to 100 private rooms, including 16 intensive care rooms and 25 bone marrow transplant rooms. The outpatient area is complemented by 40 additional exam rooms and treatment rooms for specialty outpatient clinics. A replacement of the infusion area with a 37-bed infusion suite has a million-dollar view of the Salt Lake Valley and Oquirrh Mountains. Both the original building and expansion were made possible by major gifts from the Jon M. Huntsman family, Huntsman Cancer Foundation, revenue bonds from the State of Utah, the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, Larry H. and Gail Miller, Beaumont Foundation of America, Ira and Mary Lou Fulton, along with more than 100,000 donors.
